The sub-sub-fonds contains records related to the ICTY plenary sessions. They include sitting plans, agendas, agenda papers and minutes, transcripts and audio recordings of the meetings.
Two regular plenary sessions were usually held each year, although in the early years of the Tribunal (1994-1998) three or four sessions were held. In addition to regular plenary sessions, extraordinary sessions were held, primarily for the purpose of adopting amendments to the Rules of Procedure and Evidence.
Plenary sessions usually took place over a number of days. Meetings were held in the morning and in the afternoon and each meeting within the session was given a sequential number.
The judges met in plenary to:
- elect the President and Vice-President;
- adopt and amend the Rules;
- adopt the Annual Report provided for in Article 34 of the Statute;
- decide upon matters related to the internal functioning of the Chambers and the Tribunal;
- determine or supervise the conditions of detention; and
- exercise any other functions provided for in the Statute or in the Rules.
