The series contains audiovisual recordings of court proceedings in the Rutaganda case (ICTR-96-3).

An audiovisual recording was made of each court hearing or other proceeding.

Recordings included protective measures, such as voice and/or face distortion, which were granted by a Chamber to protect the identity of a witness.

There were different versions of recordings:

• “Floor” recording: recording of what was spoken in the courtroom, in the language(s) in which it was spoken
• “English”: recording of what was spoken in the courtroom, with English interpretation of speech in language(s) other than English
• “French”: recording of what was spoken in the courtroom with French interpretation of speech in language(s) other than French
• “Kinyarwanda”: recording what was spoken in the courtroom with Kinyarwanda interpretation of speech in languages other than Kinyarwanda

For the Rutaganda case, there are audiovisual recordings for:

• the pre-trial proceedings, 25 September 1996 – 6 March 1997, including the preliminary motion filed by the Defence for the provisional release of Georges Anderson Nderubumwe Rutaganda, 25 September 1996
• the trial proceedings, 18 March 1997 – 6 December 1999, including the trial hearings, 18 March 1997 – 17 June 1999, and delivery of the trial judgement, 6 December 1999
• the appeal proceedings, 4 July 2002 – 26 May 2003, including appeal hearings, 4 July 2002 – 28 February 2003 and the delivery of the appeal judgement, 26 May 2003
