The series contains audiovisual recordings of court proceedings in the Niyitegeka case (ICTR-96-14).

An audiovisual recording was made of each court hearing or other proceeding.

Recordings included protective measures, such as voice and/or face distortion, which were granted by a Chamber to protect the identity of a witness.

There were different versions of recordings:

• “Floor” recording: recording of what was spoken in the courtroom, in the language(s) in which it was spoken
• “English”: recording of what was spoken in the courtroom, with English interpretation of speech in language(s) other than English
• “French”: recording of what was spoken in the courtroom with French interpretation of speech in language(s) other than French
• “Kinyarwanda”: recording what was spoken in the courtroom with Kinyarwanda interpretation of speech in languages other than Kinyarwanda

For the Niyitegeka case, there are audiovisual recordings for:

• the pre-trial proceedings, 15 April 1999 - 14 June 2002, including the initial appearance of Eliézer Niyitegeka, 15 April 1999, and his further initial appearance, 3 July 2000
• the trial proceedings, 17 June 2002 - 15 May 2003, including the trial hearings, 17 June 2002 - 28 February 2003, and delivery of the trial judgement, 15 May 2003
• the appeal proceedings, 21 April - 9 July 2004, including the appeal hearings, 21-22 April 2004, and delivery of the appeal judgement, 9 July 2004
