Activities around sentence enforcement were governed by Articles 27 and 28 of the ICTY Statute, and Rules 103-104, and 123-125 of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence.
Two practice directions then set out the ICTY procedures on sentence enforcement:
Practice Direction on the Procedure for the International Tribunal's Designation of the State in Which a Convicted Person is to Serve his/her Sentence of Imprisonment, IT/137, issued on 9 July 1998 in English and French. It was subsequently revised once. Revision 1 was issued on 1 September 2009 (IT/137/Rev.1)
Practice Direction on the Procedure for the Determination of Applications for Pardon, Commutation of Sentence, and Early Release of Persons Convicted by the International Tribunal, IT/146, issued on 7 April 1999 in English and French. It was subsequently revised three times. Revision 1 was issued on 15 August 2006 (IT/146/Rev.1), revision 2 was issued on 1 September 2009 (IT/146/Rev.2), and revision 3 was issued on 16 September 2010 (IT/146/Rev.3).
